The safety profile of IGF-1 LR3 itself has not been established for human use. As a class reference—not an LR3-specific safety claim—FDA-approved recombinant IGF-1 can cause hypoglycemia, hypersensitivity, intracranial hypertension and tissue hypertrophy, and carries warnings related to abnormal tissue growth.
IGF-1 signaling is well established as a regulator of growth and cellular metabolism, but those biological effects do not establish a safe or effective role for IGF-1 LR3 in healthy people. Robust controlled human LR3 outcome trials are lacking.
